Close your eyes
Indulge a mad woman
Picture the world
As a fairy tale
Forget all that is outside
Focus on a little village
A small kingdom

What can you see?
Which story will you tell?
There are so many
And at the same time so few
Is there a wolf?
A princess?
A lesson to be learned?
Do you see what I wish to say?

Who is the cast
In this fairy tale play?
Who is the villain?
Someone with no redeeming qualities
Evil through and through
Who is the hero?
Someone who does things perfectly
Who is noble and wonderful
And can do no wrong

Indulge me
Pity the wolf
Pity the witch
Pity the king
For the fairy tales treat them ill
And also
Pity the princess
Pity the prince
Pity the fairies and the milk maids
Who have no choice

Do you see?
Do you see what I wish to show you?
Can you read the script
And then read between the lines?
Can you hear what they don’t say
And see what they don’t show?
Now open your eyes
And realize my spell
Realize that the world IS a fairy tale
Just on a bigger stage
When was the last time
Someone admitted
That an opponent might be right?
Do you see the wolves?
Do you see the princes?
And can you see also
The truth?
The workings of the tale?
Because if you can
Then my work is done
And you need to pass the knowledge on
And if you can’t?
Then I will say no more
And go quietly
To the doom my musings have earned me
For once I actually know what one of my poems means! I hate fairy tales. Like really HATE them. I've read all sorts of them, from the original Grimm's fairy tales (which amuse me) to the Disney versions (which make me want to punch something) And one thing I notice, is that the world is a fairy tale. And that in fairy tales, no one cares what happens after a certain point, and no one cares why certain people do what they do. And I wonder, does anyone else see this? Other then those that take advantage of it? I mean... I am the wolf. The evil witch. And when I look at the heroes? I can't help but wonder, what makes me the villain and them the hero? What makes them better then me?

I find this poem incredibly inspiring.
Even if I am completely in love with fairy tales.

Wow this is a truely beautiful piece, the world is like a fairy tale in so many ways! except, a lot of the moments dont end up being happy and yet, there are some that do. Keep up the great work! :aww:

I LOVE fairy tales. I keep reading this because I really don't get what you're trying to say XD It's like this with my thoughts when I have not mulled over them enough. The world is a fairy tale and you're a villian and other people are heroes and there are seven golden finches singing in your bathtub blah blah blah. Are you talking about good and evil, and how confusing they are? I can't figure it out.

-smiles- I'm sorry it's taken me so long to reply to you! Computer problems are a curse equal to anything an evil fairy could throw.

The main thing I'm trying to say here is that all too often people only look at the surface of things. Looking beneath the surface reveals that things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes people forget that.

And to be honest, the main reason I hate fairy tales is because I love them so much ^-^

Oh well I am always trying to do just that. Beneath the surface and so on and so on and so forth. Sokay I get it. Neato XD There is just something so lovely about them.

This is a very creative story. It actually is true. I mean, think about it. Where do all the writers get their ideas from? From the world. Yes, this is a very meaningful story. ^_^

i have thought about that before :]] i love it,

i admire the way youve worded it so carefully to engage the reader,
+ then explained at the end _why_ you wrote it,

which not a lot of people have the courage to do

i bet i'll go away + think about that during today

so well done, youve inspired me :] x

You cannot know how amazing it is to get comments like this. Nothing makes my day like hearing I've made people think and/or inspired them. I do like telling people why I write what I write, when I actually know (which I usually don't)

Here is my poem in response to yours, please read it.

Bravo. Incredible.
I like the perspective taken in this piece. It's just not just a pretty poem- it leaves the reader with something to think about.

I do like to think that some of my poems are capable of that... Though this is the first one in a little while that was meant to... -thinks of all the love poems and winces-
